Non-Mammalian Organsisms

An interesting survival method used by slugs is they can create a sticky mucus that will allow them to clime up verticle surfaces. This mucus can also be used by other slugs that are looking for a mate. One surprising similarity between slugs and mammals is that slugs have a brain that is a lot similar to that of a humans. For example, slugs use some of the same chemical methods that other mammals do in order to store information. Also, slugs can be trained to do things. One example is that they can be trained not to eat their favorite food, potatoes, by putting bad tasting chemicals on the potatoes. Eventually, slugs wont even touch potatoes that haven't had anything gross put on them. I found this information very interesting and it makes me wonder how many more organisms can be trained this way.
